September 28 – October 3

Lin-Manuel Miranda is a genius! Before you call me Captain Obvious, I know that he has shook up Broadway not once but twice. First with In The Heights and now with Hamilton but the prestigious MacArthur Foundation has chosen Lin-Manuel as one of 24 illustrious people selected to the 2015 class of fellows of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. The fellowships, which are known as “genius grants,” come with a no strings attached stipend of $625,000 over five years. Congratulations yet again to our hometown hero!

Have you stopped by Word Up Books (2113 Amsterdam Ave @ 165th St.) and purchased your copy of A.J. Sidransky’s latest novel, Forgiving Mariela Camacho, yet? What are you waiting for? The book is an engrossing read that is partially set in Washington Heights. Seriously, you will not put this down until it is consumed whole. This coming Thursday, October 8th at 7 pm, I will sit down with A.J. Sidransky at Word Up Books for a deep dive to delve into the must-read book. Please come out and show your support.
