Summer Games
Have fun like a native New Yorker at the Museum of the City of New York (MCNY) on Mon., Aug. 13th from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Learn about indoor and street games that have been played by New Yorkers for centuries. Explore images from the museum’s collections while you try your hand at unique city games. The event is ideal toward families with children ages 6 to 12 years old. Hughes’ Dream Harlem
Reimagine the neighborhood at the Harlem Library on Wed., Aug. 8th from 5:00 p.m. – 6:45 p.m. Delve into the contributions of the poet Langston Hughes to the Harlem Renaissance and beyond through the multi-layered documentary Hughes’ Dream Harlem. Actor and activist Ossie Davis offers the narration while actress Ruby Dee reflects on Hughes’ life with personalities such as poet Sonia Sánchez. The viewing is followed by a roundtable discussion and a tour of the famous artist’s hang-out spots. The library is located at 9 West 124th Street.

Duncan Dance
Revel in movement at Fort Tryon Park on Sat., Aug. 4th from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Lori Belilove and The Isadora Duncan Dance Company will be performing at Billings Lawn in honor of the company’s founder. The outdoor performance will present the life and art of Isadora Duncan with dancing intended to delight audiences of all ages. Bring a blanket and your friends to enjoy the afternoon. The entrance is between Margaret Corbin Drive and Cabrini Boulevard.

Kid Karaoke
Sing along to your favorite tunes at George Bruce Library on Tues., Aug. 7th at 5:00 p.m. Belt out a solo version or bring a friend to do a duet; try a new track or stick with an old and true one; either way, stick around for some fun with the library’s karaoke machine. The event is intended for children ages 6 years old and up. It reoccurs every first Tuesday of each month. The library is located at 518 West 125th Street.

Suppliants
Be there as the New York Euripides Summer Festival takes over at Marcus Garvey Park on Mon., Aug. 6th from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. with its production of Suppliants by the American Thymele Theatre. Widows and children of war victims go to Eleusis, near Athens, to seek justice and permission to bury their dead heroes. The fully staged show, which is paired with music, is open to the public. The park is located at 6316 Mt. Morris Park West.
