It’ll be Aquaponics on Audubon. The High School for Health Careers and Sciences in Washington Heights recently received an educational grant to support its STEM programs, including Aquaponics Science and Technology. The school, located on the George Washington Educational Campus on Audubon Avenue, will receive $2,000 courtesy of State Senator Marisol Alcántara and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA). “New Yorkers need to remain competitive in the global economy and one way to do that is by exposing our students to STEM education,” said Alcántara during a visit to the school on April 21. “I applaud Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America for this investment towards STEM education programs at Health Sciences and Careers High School.” The school currently has a Hydroponics Science and Technology Program using the Hydroponics Learning Model Curriculum, and will expand its STEM curriculum in the current semester to include Aquaponics Science and Technology. “The biopharmaceutical industry is committed to investing in the future of innovation,” said Laura Perloff, Director of Advocacy and Strategic Alliances at PhRMA. “STEM programs like the program here at Health Sciences and Careers High School allow students to gain hands-on experience that will help better prepare them for careers in STEM fields.” For more information, please visit http://bit.ly/2pwWAdn.
