The Uptown Arts Stroll
The Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance presents its 10th annual Uptown Arts Stroll this June – a month long celebration of the visual and performing arts community of Washington Heights and Inwood. Local artists are encouraged to inquire about opportunities to showcase their talents at this month long event which takes place at various venues throughout the Northern Manhattan area.

State of Northern Manhattan Address
All residents are invited to the annual State of Northern Manhattan Address by Councilmember Ydanis Rodríguez on Sun., Apr. 21st.
Councilmember Rodríguez will discuss the accomplishments of the past year, current work and plans for the future of the district. There will be short performances and additional speakers as well.
The address is to be held at the Yeshiva University’s Lamport Auditorium, located at 2540 Amsterdam Avenue, near 187th Street.

Pin-Up de Pura Cepa Closing Reception
The closing reception for the Pin-Up de Pura Cepa exhibit, featuring women in pin-up poses by artist and photographer Alina Vargas, will be held on Sat., Apr. 13th from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at APT 78 4447 Broadway (between 191st and 192nd Streets). As hosted by APT 78, The Peralta Project, and the Dip-sters, this is a women-only event, with cocktails, cupcakes and more. Vargas will travel from the Dominican Republic to be present for the reception.

Columbia University Summer Sports Program Lottery
Columbia University’s Summer Sports Program is now accepting applications for kids in Washington Heights and Inwood who wish to participate in the Summer Sports program. The program offers opportunities for children to stay active and participate in outdoor activities throughout the summer. Applications should be turned in at Inwood Community Services, the Police Athletic League or Community League of the Heights.

Commercial Leasing Workshop
The NYC Business Solutions, Washington Heights Center in partnership with Start Small Think Big, is offering a free educational workshop focused on understanding Commercial Leasing. Topics covered include the special vocabulary of commercial leases; the rights of a commercial tenant in New York City; and a focus on office leases and on retail leases.
The workshop will take place Thurs., Apr. 25th between 5:30 p.m. – 6: 30 p.m. at 560 West 181st Street, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10033.

El paseo de las artes
La alianza de las artes del norte de Manhattan presenta su décimo paseo anual de las artes este mes de junio, una celebración de un mes de la comunidad de las artes visuales y escénicas de Washington Heights e Inwood. Se anima a los artistas locales a indagar acerca de las oportunidades de mostrar su trabajo en este evento que tendrá un mes de duración y tiene lugar en varios lugares de la zona del norte de Manhattan.

Discurso del estado del norte de Manhattan
Todos los residentes están invitados al discurso anual del estado del norte de Manhattan por el concejal Ydanis Rodríguez, el domingo 21 de abril.
El concejal Rodríguez discutirá los logros del año pasado, su labor actual y los planes para el futuro del distrito. Habrá presentaciones cortas.
El discurso se llevará a cabo en el auditorio Lamport de la Universidad Yeshiva, que se encuentra en el 2540 de la Avenida Ámsterdam, cerca de la calle 187.

Pin-Up de Pura Cepa, recepción de clausura
La recepción de clausura de la exhibición Pin-Up de Pura Cepa, que presenta mujeres en poses pin-up, presentada por la artista y fotógrafa Alina Vargas, se llevará a cabo el sábado 13 de abril de 1:00 pm a 3:00 pm en APT 78 4447 Broadway (entre las calles 191 y 192). Siendo organizado por APT 78, el proyecto Peralta y Dip-sters, este es un evento sólo para mujeres, con cócteles, pasteles y mucho más. Vargas viajará desde la República Dominicana para estar presente en la recepción.

Sorteo del programa deportivo de verano de la Universidad Columbia
El programa deportivo de verano de la Universidad Columbia está aceptando solicitudes para niños de Washington Heights e Inwood que deseen participar. El programa ofrece oportunidades a los niños para mantenerse activos y participar en actividades al aire libre durante todo el verano.
Las solicitudes deben ser entregadas en servicios comunitarios Inwood, la Liga Atlética de la Policía o la Liga de la Comunidad de los Heights.

Los temas cubiertos incluyen el vocabulario especial de alquileres comerciales, los derechos de un arrendatario comercial en Nueva York y un enfoque en los alquileres de oficinas y de arrendamientos comerciales.
