La Casa Azul U-LAMP Book Drive

La Casa Azul Bookstore, in collaboration with the Unaccompanied Latin American Minor Project (U-LAMP) at John Jay College of Criminal Justice/Safe Passage Project, is launching a book drive for children who were apprehended and detained at the Mexico-US border and are currently in deportation proceedings in the New York City area.

These children and teenagers, who are living in both local shelters and residing with legal guardians, will be provided with new and gently used Spanish-language books in good condition.

The book drive runs from Thu., Jul. 10th –  Sun., Aug. 10th.

Books will be delivered to local shelters, providing them directly to children and teenagers who are currently in deportation proceedings.

EVENT SCHEDULE:

·         Book drive kick-off and info session                  Thu., Jul. 10, 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
·         Film screening of Which Way Home                 Thu., Jul. 24, 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
·         Film screening of Sin Nombre                          Sun., Aug. 10, 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
