Step into Swing
Get into the swing of things.Take it back to swinging times at the Pelham Fritz Recreation Center on Sat., Sep. 15th from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Learn the art of swing dance from a professional award-winning dancer steeped in the Lindy Hop tradition. Participants will be able to follow and even lead effectively, while having fun with other students taking part in a historical American dance. All are welcome. The center is located at 18 Mount Morris Park West.

Song in a Weary Throat
In honor.Honor a civil rights movement contributor at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture on Tues., Sep. 18th at 6:30 p.m. Celebrate the lawyer, activist, poet and Episcopal priest Pauli Murray and the re-publication of her memoir Song in a Weary Throat and poetry collection Dark Testament. Feminist scholars Patricia Bell-Scott and Brittany Cooper and poets Kevin Young and Patricia Spear Jones will share readings from her works. The center is located at 515 Malcolm X Boulevard.
