On Sun., July 3rd, the Fort Tryon Park Trust will host a tour of Heather Garden from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. Participants will meet at the park’s Margaret Corbin Circle Entrance. Tour guide and horticulturist Madeline Byrne will share the history of the Garden and will compare the plants in bloom to those at the New York Botanical Garden, where she has worked for 15 years. Fashion illustrator Kelly Beeman will be El Museo Del Barrio’s next artist in focus; a private studio visit will be offered. The Dyckman Farmhouse will present a workshop on growing vegetables on Sat., Jul. 2nd from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. The focus will be on planting crops specific to the late summer and fall season. The Black Iris Project is set to perform at the Schomberg Center for Research in Black Culture which is located on 515 Malcolm X Boulevard. Its aim is to inspire youth of color to pursue art, movement and music as an outlet for healing. Celebrate the nation’s freedom a little early this year at Morris-Jumel Mansion, the oldest house in Manhattan. The mansion, located at 65 Jumel Terrace, will host a Bluegrass concert with local artists. The program, in partnership with the New York Restoration Project, will take place on Thurs., Jun 30th from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. A selection of red and white wines will be available.

Bluegrass en Jumel
Celebre la libertad de la nación un poco antes este año en Morris-Jumel, la casa más antigua de Manhattan. La mansión, ubicada en el No. 65 de Jumel Terrace, acogerá un concierto de Bluegrass con artistas locales.
