Demystifying Housing
Join P.A.’L.A.N.T.E. Harlem on Fri., Jun. 12th and Sat., Jun. 13th at the Adam Clayton Powell State Building Office for the “Demystifying Housing” conference. The annual event looks to explore current issues faced by renters and homeowners living in the city. It will feature representatives from governmental housing agencies, elected officials, housing advocates, community board members and local developers. The meeting aims to build networks and establish new approaches in order to make the affordable housing community more effective. The Adam Clayton Powell State Office Building is located at 163 West 125th Street.

Hamilton Heights Sugar Hill Cultural Festival
Enjoy a celebration of art, music, dance and culture at the Hamilton Heights Sugar Hill Cultural Festival on Sat., Jun. 13th. The event, hosted by Harlem One Stop Organization, will feature three blocks of activities, including performances by King Solomon Hicks Band of Brothers and Whitney Marchelle Jackson, among others. The event begins at noon at Hamilton Place through West 143rd Street on Amsterdam Avenue.

Parent and Me Yoga
Families are welcome to join the Fort Tryon Park Trust for free yoga for children and parents/caregivers with Christina Shablak, a certified children’s instructor. All children are welcome with a parent or caregiver. Participants will join Shablak on Abby’s Lawn in Fort Tryon Park, just north of the David Rockefeller Linden Terrace and are encouraged to arrive early, and bring a towel or yoga mat. Please note that this event will be canceled in the event of rain.

Activist New York
Explore the drama of social activism in New York City from the 17th century up to the present with the Museum of the City of New York’s current exhibition Activist New York. The exhibit will use artifacts, photographs, audio and visual presentations, and interactive components in its attempt to tell the “entire story of activism” in the five boroughs. Among the topics explored are historic preservation, civil rights, wages, sexual orientation, and religious freedom.
The Museum of the City of New York is located at 1220 Fifth Avenue (at 103rd Street).

Aclarando la Vivienda
Únase a P.A.L.A.N.T.E. Harlem el viernes, 12 de junio y el sábado, 13 de junio en el edificio estatal de oficinas Adam Clayton Powell para la conferencia “Aclarando la Vivienda”. El evento anual busca explorar temas actuales que enfrentan los inquilinos y dueños de casa que viven en la ciudad. Contará con representantes de las agencias de vivienda del gobierno, oficiales electos, defensores de vivienda, miembros de juntas comunales y desarrolladores locales. La reunión busca construir redes de trabajo y establecer nuevos enfoques para poder hacer la vivienda asequible más efectiva. New York Activista
Explore el drama de activismo social en la ciudad de Nueva York desde el Siglo 17 hasta el presente con la actual exhibición del Museo de la Ciudad de Nueva York, New York Activista. La exhibición utilizará artefactos, fotografías, audio y presentaciones visuales, y componentes interactivos en su intento de contar la “historia completa del activismo” en los cinco condados. Entre los tópicos a explorar está la preservación histórica, derechos civiles, salarios, orientación sexual y liberta de religión.
