Free High School Leadership Program Four Star Leadership is accepting high school students’ applications and nominations for its free world-class summer leadership program, which will be July 9-15 in Hobart, Oklahoma. The General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum, in conjunction with Oklahoma Christian University (OC), offers this one-of-a-kind opportunity to 70 of the top performing high school students from around the world, free of charge. Four Star Leadership is a leadership program that was designed and inspired by the life and leadership of Franks, who is best known for his position as a four-star general and as the former Commander-in-Chief of American and coalition forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. By the end of Frank’s military career, he had been awarded five Distinguished Service Medals, four Legions of Merit, four Bronze Stars and three Purple Hearts. In addition to the numerous awards of valor, Frank’s was appointed Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE) by order of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and was awarded the Nation’s highest civilian award, the Presidential Medal by President George W. Bush in 2004. Program curriculum is designed around the four core principles: character, common vision, communication and caring. During the program, students will be hosted by OC on the Edmond, Oklahoma, campus and travel to destinations across the state where they will meet and engage with national and international leaders including elected officials, dignitaries and championship-level athletes. In addition, students will be confronted with practical leadership and ethical scenarios and then challenged to address them individually in a persuasive speech and writing competition as well as collaboratively in an Ethics Bowl tournament. Attendees will have a chance to earn more than $15,000 in scholarships as well as gain internships and receive letters of recommendation, enhancing their opportunities for future advancement. Applications and nominations for Four Star Leadership 2016 are being accepted now through May 9.
