Washington Heights artist Teofilo Olivieri doesn’t have a gallery.
He creates, exhibits and sells art on the street. His art is unique and immediately identifiable—he uses book covers as a canvas. His work features brightly colored animals and imaginary creatures. He’s also expanding his work into a line of t-shirts.

The Deep Listening Institute just added uptown composer Kristin Norderval’s Aural Histories CD to their exclusive catalog. Often compared to Meredith Monk, her work is a mixture of medieval chant, folk music and extended vocal techniques. We aren’t the only ones who admire her music, Aural Histories is featured on Amazon’s Top Ten Hot New Releases in Modern Classical Music. New Yorker music critic Alex Ross also added her to his playlist; you should too.
