Shout out to the good folks at AT&T for giving me the opportunity to test drive the brand new Amazon Fire Phone recently at their Mobility Tech Innovation Event. The Amazon Fire is the very first smartphone designed by Amazon and is now available for purchase. Even though I am an ardent devotee of everything Apple, I was seriously blown away by the tech and thought that went into this elegant piece of hardware. If you are in the market for a new smartphone, the Amazon Fire is a pretty awesome option.
Our Time Travel Tuesdays post took us back to a story that appeared in the NY Times on July 16th, 2006. The article looks at Sherman Creek when it was still an ugly eyesore that was ripe for reinvention.
Take a behind-the-scenes trip up to the NXNE Festival in Toronto with the super talented songstress Camille Safiya. Camille dropped a really cool short on the trials, tribulations and triumphs of a star in the making. Frankie Medina recently released the first visuals from the audio book version of Notes To Self. Directed by Lozer Films, Can You Feel Me features singer Marlyn Jimenez.
The Museum of the City of New York and El Museo del Barrio present UPTOWN BOUNCE: Summer Nights at 104th and Fifth, the first-ever joint series featuring musical performances, gallery talks, art-making workshops, break-dancing demos, renowned DJs, sangria and festive summer drinks, local food vendors, and more. Uptown Bounce takes place on the following Wednesdays, July 30th, August 6th and 13th.
The Ford Motor Company has been innovating, disrupting and shifting paradigms since the turn of the last century. Their annual Ford Trends conference is all about getting thought leaders, influencers as well as Ford designers and engineers together to discuss, dissect and discern future trends shaping not just the automotive world but the wider world as well. The event was much more than just a super cool behind-the-scenes look at the products/ideas that Ford is developing but also featured thought-provoking panels on such diverse topics as Big Data, Sustainability and Female Empowerment. As an auto enthusiast, I was thrilled at the opportunity to take part in this annual automotive extravaganza in Detroit. I seriously hope I get invited again next year.
