Earned Sick Leave Day of Action

Earned Sick Leave Day of Action
Earlier this year, the expanded version of the Earned Sick Leave bill, allowing employees of businesses with five employees or more to receive 40 hours of earned sick leave throughout the year, was signed into law.
The Earned Sick Leave bill now allows workers feeling under the weather, or parents of sick children, to take time to take care of themselves and their families without fear of retribution from their employers.
The law will take effect at the end of this month, on July 30th.
The Office of Councilmember Ydanis Rodriguez is calling for volunteers to participate locally in a “Day of Action” to help spread the word around northern Manhattan.
Volunteers are needed to pass out flyers at train stations and throughout the community during the morning and evening rushes, from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. and from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Please join the citywide effort on July 16th by registering at http://on.nyc.gov/1iY5JTy.
