The Queen Cometh Uptown. Ready or not, here she comes… That’s right familiaMs. Lauryn Hill will be live in concert on February 22, 2020 to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the venerable United Palace. I already have my tickets, so do yourself a favor and hit up our site to get your tickets ASAP. Rumors have been swirling that Ms. Lauryn Hill will be dropping new material soon so that just adds to the buzz. Listen folks, this is a world-class artist in your neighborhood. Tickets will not last, so do not delay in getting yours. By the way, make sure you follow us on Twitter & IG at @Uptowncollectiv as we informed everyone that pre-sale tickets were on sale on social media before the tickets became available to the general public.

Liann Herder wrote her first piece for the Uptown Collective on our desperate need for a viable community artistic space in Washington Heights and Inwood. Liann expounds on how that need has mobilized locals to push for more arts in the neighborhood and find creative ways to meet the pressing artistic needs of the community.

WATERLICHT, which translates to “Water Light,” is an immersive light installation and a centerpiece of Columbia University’s Year of Water interdisciplinary exploration. It includes art, lectures, symposia and research, uniting the campus and its constituents to examine and celebrate the planet’s most precious resource. Propelled by LED lights and lenses, WATERLICHT will come to life after sunset, at the public plaza of Columbia University’s Lenfest Center for the Arts from 7:30 p.m.-11 p.m. this week.

On this week’s episode, the LOL crew discusses Rachel’s recent HERlarious variety show, the opioid crisis and Jesus kicks. The special guest this week is the incomparable Carolina “Miss Rizos” Contreras.

By the way, speaking of Miss Rizos, please don’t forget to RSVP for my intimate sit down with Carolina at the Juan Pablo Duarte Community Space (Fort Washington Ave and 179th Street – Port Authority Bus Terminal) on Saturday, October 26 at 2 p.m. We will also host a Pajón Power After-Party at the super sexy T2 La Maison (366 Audubon Avenue) starting at 6 p.m. You already know the motto folks, Spread Love It’s The Uptown Way. RSVP: http://bit.ly/Pajónpower.
