Remembering Officer Ramos
On Sat., Dec. 27th, a funeral service was held for slain NYPD Officer Rafael Ramos, with thousands of officers, community activists and residents filling the streets to pay respects.
Ramos, a Puerto Rican native who had been with the NYPD for two years, was killed in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn on Sat., Dec. 20th, along with partner Wenjian Liu, where they were part of a special crime-reduction patrol.
Among those in attendance were Vice President Joe Biden; New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo; New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio; NYPD Commissioner William Bratton and others.
“Our hearts are aching today,” said de Blasio. “On behalf of all 8.4 million New Yorkers, I extend condolences to the entire family.”
