Family Day at Isabella
On Thurs., Jul. 24th, the Isabella Geriatric Center will host a Family Day from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event will feature games, prizes, carnival food, pony rides, live entertainment and dancing. The festival will also feature a marching band, clowns, a stilt walker and a presentation from the Fire Department’s Safety Demonstration House. Guests will have the opportunity to take advantage of the various flea market tables while obtaining information on the services provided by the exhibitors present.
General admission is $5. Proceeds from this event will help support Isabella’s nursing home and community-based Programs.

Summer Cultural Hub
The Alianza Dominicana Cultural Center will host a summer cultural hub through Thur., Aug. 14th. The Hub is open to children ages 5 through 14 and will feature traditional Merengue and Bachata dance classes, arts and crafts, Dominican games and Dominican carnival characters. All of the sessions and classes are free and will be held from Mondays through Thursdays starting at 9:30 a.m.

“Rising Still”
On Sun., Aug.10th, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., an encore presentation of a three-hour marathon reading of the prolific prose and poetry of the late, author, poet, playwright, and essayist Dr. Maya Angelou will be presented by professional artists working in the disciplines of theater, visual art, literature, music, dance and journalism. The event will celebrate the resilience, accomplishments and contributions of artists of color. The program entitled, “Rising Still: A Creative Journey through Resilient Skies,” will be held in the Outdoor Plaza of the Adam Clayton Powell State Office Building located at 163 West 125th Street between Frederick Douglass and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevards. The event is free and open to the public.

Empowering Youth’s Final Performance
This July, in partnership with the United Palace for Cultural Arts (UPCA), Statement Arts presented free music and theater programs, which provided introductory classes in acting, singing and dance. All are community-based and free of charge. Statement Arts will host its Third Annual Statement Arts’ Empowering Youth Final Performance on Fri., Jul. 25th from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at UPCA, located at 4140 Broadway.

Día familiar en Isabella
El jueves 24 de julio, el centro geriátrico Isabella será la sede un día de la familia de 10 a.m. a 4:00 p.m. El evento contará con juegos, premios, comida de carnaval, paseos en poni, actuaciones en vivo y baile. El festival también incluirá una banda de música, payasos, un caminante en zancos y una demostración de seguridad en el hogar del Departamento de Bomberos. Los huéspedes tendrán la oportunidad de aprovechar las diferentes mesas del mercado de pulgas, mientras obtienen información sobre los servicios ofrecidos por los expositores presentes.
La entrada general es de $5 dólares. Las ganancias de este evento apoyarán a Isabella y a programas de base comunitaria.

Centro cultural de verano
El centro cultura Alianza Dominicana será sede del centro cultural de verano hasta el jueves 14 de agosto.
El centro está abierto a niños de 5 a 14 años, y contará con las tradicionales clases de danza de merengue y bachata, artes y artesanías, juegos dominicanos y personajes del carnaval dominicano. Todas las sesiones y las clases son gratuitas y tendrán lugar de lunes a jueves a partir de las 9:30 a.m.

Maya Angelou, será presentado por artistas profesionales que trabajan en las disciplinas de teatro, artes visuales, literatura, música, danza y periodismo. El evento celebrará la resistencia, los logros y las contribuciones de los artistas de color. El programa, titulado “Rising Still: A Creative Journey through Resilient Skies”, se llevará a cabo en la plaza exterior del edificio estatal de oficinas Adam Clayton, ubicado en el163 de la calle 125 oeste, entre los bulevares Frederick Douglass y Adam Clayton Powell Jr. El evento es gratuito y abierto al público.

Presentación final de empoderamiento juvenil
Este julio, en asociación con el United Palace for Cultural Arts (UPCA), Statement Arts presentó programas gratuitos de música y teatro, que proveen clases introductorias de actuación, canto y baile. Todos son de base comunitaria y sin ningún cargo. Statement Arts celebrará su tercera presentación final de empoderamiento juvenil el viernes 25 de julio de 6:30 p.m. a 9:00 p.m. en UPCA, ubicado en el 4140 de Broadway.
