To mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of Fox Studios in Fort Lee, NJ, the United Palace of Cultural Arts (UPCA) and Fort Lee Film Commission have been presenting the “The Women of Fox Film Festival” film series at the Palace.
This Sun., Dec. 20th, starting at 4:00 p.m., theater doors will open for the festival’s last selection, Miracle on 34th Street (1947). In this Christmas classic, an old man going by the name of Kris Kringle (Edmund Gwenn) fills in for an intoxicated Santa in Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Day parade. Kringle proves to be such a hit that he is soon appearing regularly at the chain’s main store in midtown Manhattan. When Kringle surprises customers and employees alike by claiming that he really is Santa Claus, it leads to a court case to determine his mental health and, more importantly, his authenticity. Features 8-year-old Natalie Wood’s breakthrough performance. Directed by George Seaton. 96 min. Shown on DVD with Spanish subtitles.

En este clásico de Navidad, un anciano que va por el nombre de Kris Kringle (Edmund Gwenn) representa un Santa intoxicado en el desfile anual del Día de Acción de Gracias de Macy’s. Kringle demuestra ser un éxito tan grande que está pronto a aparecer regularmente en la tienda principal de la cadena en el centro de Manhattan. Cuando Kringle sorprende a clientes y empleados por igual al afirmar que él realmente es Santa Claus, le inician un proceso judicial para determinar su estado de salud mental y, más importante aún, su autenticidad.
