Emergency Snow Laborers Wanted

The New York City Department of Sanitation is calling in emergency snow laborers to help remove snow and ice from bus stops, crosswalks, fire hydrants, and step streets throughout the City.

Individuals interested in registering can do so at their local district DSNY garage. The rate of pay begins at $12 per hour, and increases to $18 after the first 40 hours.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, be eligible to work in the United States, and capable of performing heavy physical labor.

Those who have pre-registered with DSNY or DOT should report to the garage or location listed on their ID card on Friday, March 6 at 8 a.m.

All applicants must bring:

  • Two small photos (1 ½ square)
  • Original and copy of two forms of identification
  • Social Security card
