New route for M100
For Northern Manhattan commuters, a change is coming.
This past Tues., Jul. 1st, New York City Councilmember Ydanis Rodríguez announced that the route for the M100 bus line uptown would be modified.
The changes are intended to increase public transportation access to residents east of Broadway.
In making the announcement, Councilmember Rodríguez, who serves also as the Chair of the Transportation Committee, was joined by State Senator Adriano Espaillat, and representatives from the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA), the Dyckman Houses, and the New York Restoration Project (NYRP).
“I’m glad the MTA could get this done,” said the Councilmember.
“It’s a win-win for the whole community.”
Traveling northbound, the M100 bus will now turn right from Broadway onto Dyckman Street, making stops all along the corridor.
It will pass the Dyckman Houses and turn left onto Tenth Avenue, where PS 5 is located. The bus will then travel along Tenth Avenue, providing bus service to a densely populated area comprised of a sizeable senior citizen population.
“Under the current system, Dyckman Houses residents have been cut off from public transit,” added Sen. Espaillat. “I thank the MTA for approving the new route we suggested. This small change will have a real and meaningful impact on the lives of the buildings’ residents.”
Nueva ruta del M100
Viene un cambio para los viajeros del norte de Manhattan.
El pasado martes 1° de Julio, el concejal de la ciudad de Nueva York, Ydanis Rodríguez, anunció que la ruta de la línea del autobús M100 del norte del condado será modificada.
Los cambios tienen el propósito de incrementar el acceso al transporte público a los residentes del este de Broadway.
Durante el anuncio, al concejal Rodríguez, quien también funge como presidente del comité de transporte, se le unió el senador estatal Adriano Espaillat y representantes de la Autoridad Metropolitana de Transporte (MTA por sus siglas en inglés), las casas Dyckman y el proyecto Restauración de Nueva York (NYRP por sus siglas en inglés).
“Estoy feliz de que la MTA pudiera lograrlo”, dijo el concejal.
“Con esto gana toda la comunidad”.
Viajando hacia el norte, el autobús M100 ahora girará a la derecha en Broadway hacia la calle Dyckman, haciendo paradas a lo largo del corredor.
Pasará las casas Dyckman y girará a la izquierda hacia la décima avenida, donde se encuentra la PS 5. El autobús viajará después a lo largo de la décima avenida, proporcionando el servicio de autobús a una zona densamente poblada, compuesta de una población considerable de adultos mayores.
“Bajo el sistema actual, los residentes de las casas Dyckman estaban alejados del transporte público”, agregó el senador Espaillat. “Agradezco a la MTA por la aprobación de la nueva ruta que sugerimos. Este pequeño cambio tendrá un impacto real y significativo en la vida de los residentes de los edificios”.
