Stringer strolls uptown
New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer visited the Amsterdam Houses Family Day and met with the Tenants Association and residents this past Sat., Aug. 9th.
Comptroller Stringer represented the Amsterdam Houses as Assemblymember for the 67th District for over ten years and for eight years as Manhattan Borough President.
“It’s great to be home,” he said. “As your Comptroller, I’m going to make sure the Amsterdam Houses, and NYCHA housing throughout the city, [are] built up to its fullest potential and always protected.”
Comptroller Stringer is currently conducting a top-to-bottom audit of NYCHA and its finances.
In his first NYCHA audit, he found the agency failed to ensure contractors working on its capital projects compiled with federal law and NYCHA’s own regulations that mandate hiring of NYCHA residents and low-income New Yorkers.
