On Sat., Oct. 15th, Fort Tryon Park is opening the doors to its cottage from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The cottage was built in 1908 and was originally the entrance to the C.K.G Billings Estate. The tours, which are 30 minutes long, are also available for the adjacent Heather Gardens; each tour has a maximum occupancy of 20 guests. Help clean up Riverside Park as the leaves hit the ground on Sat., Nov. 19th from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. As the days get shorter, and the piles get bigger, volunteers will step in to make sure they do not hinder pathways, high-traffic areas and clog up storm drains. The leaves pose a potential risk of injury by making pathways slippery and could smother grass. After the cleanup, the decaying leaves will be put into a compost pile and will be turned into mulch that will be used to help vegetation grow and stay healthy in the park.
