She attended community meetings and voiced her concerns, but left frustrated numerous times, ultimately deciding that traditional tactics just weren’t going to work. So, she began drawing, utilizing one of the oldest tools of dissent, the satiric cartoon. She runs through Inwood Hill Park, Fort Tryon Park, Riverbank State Park, and many of the streets of Northern Manhattan. Hence the name “Runnin’ Around Uptown.” This street-level blog is chock full of photos and musings on the neighborhoods that make up Northern Manhattan. It’s not clear how long Amy has been living in the neighborhood, but her sense of wonder surrounding the beauty and energy of the area is refreshing and lovely. runninarounduptown.blogspot.com Washington Tykes Devoted to the dogs of Washington Heights and their people, centered around The Rocky Run, located at W. 165th St. and Riverside Drive, as well as Offleash Hours activities down in Fort Washington Park. Washington Tykes doubles as a soapbox for my scattered musings on the relationship between canines and humans – the good, the bad, and the fugly. What can be written about this blog that isn’t already mentioned in the subtitle of the site? This site about the Southern Washington Heights dog community contains equal part community organizing equal part informative dog relationship advice and a big dash of adorable dog voyeur-ship.
