Leave it to the Irish to find a way to please all of the people

all of the time.Coogan’s Restaurant, the heart of Northern

Manhattan’s social and culinary scene for decades longer than

other eateries have been in business, eagerly meets customers’

needs. Coogan’s has sated generations of Northern Manhattanites

with staples like Shepherd’s Pie ($12.95), grilled salmon ($15.95)

and great burgers with homemade French fries (starting at $8.95).

Responding to customer requests, the menu is also peppered with

dishes and top-it-off-yourself salads aimed at both

vegetariansand carb counters, all delivered by the neighborhood’s

most experiencedwait staff. Coogan’s is also home to the three-day

weekend, as brunch is dished out Monday as well. The active bar

scene is highlighted by bilingual karaoke, multiple flat screen

televisions ideal forwatching sports with hot wings, $5 weekday

drink specials, including watermelon martinis and cosmopolitans,

and $3 draft pints. The spacious restaurant neatly separates

the bar from the family-friendly dining room; a back room provides

for private parties. A new seasonal sidewalk café expands Coogan’s

potential to please, appealing to those who like a side of

sunshine with their Guinness.
