The New York City Redistricting Commission is also engaged in these following outreach efforts:

  • The Preliminary Draft Maps are online. You may access both the citywide and borough based maps by clicking HERE or visiting our website at http://www.nyc.gov/html/dc/html/maps/maps.shtml.

  • Copies of the Preliminary Draft Maps will be on display. Physical maps will be available for public viewing at the City's main library branches and/or Borough Hall offices throughout the City.

  • Free, Online Mapping Software is available. A free, online version of Maptitude, a state-of-the-art mapping software, will be publicly available so that anyone with internet access can draw and submit maps to the Commission. Most importantly, Maptitude will contain the same data sets used by the Commission in its work to redraw New York City Council districts. Access Maptitude HERE or visit our website at http://www.nyc.gov/html/dc/html/mapping/mapping.shtml.

  • The Commission's Resource Room is open. In the event a person wants to draw their own maps but lacks internet access or needs assistance using the software, our Resource Room, located at the Commission offices at 253 Broadway, 7th Floor, contains computers loaded with Maptitude software. It is open from Noon-7PM on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and from 10AM to 3PM on Monday and Friday. To make an appointment, please contact Justin Bassett at (212) 676-8983 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

  • A Speakers' Bureau is established. The Speakers' Bureau will dispatch Commission staff to community groups and other organizations to make presentations about the districting process and how the public can have its voice heard. To make an appointment for a speaker, contact Jonathan Ettricks at (212) 676-8981 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
