It was the beginning of Lyanna Breton’s third day of school but she was still having a hard time adjusting. As she arrived to the schoolyard accompanied by her mother, her nerves were evident.

An Inwood man was fatally shot by an undercover police detective on Tues., Sept 6th outside of 26 Post Avenue.
John Collado, 43, husband, father and grandfather, was shot in the stomach when a narcotics detective moved to arrest an alleged dug dealer on the corner of Post Avenue and Dyckman Street.

Local school children received free book bags filled with notebooks, reading materials and school supplies on their first day back to school. State Assemblyman Guillermo Linares, World Vision, and Literacy Inc. partnered to distribute the supplies at local schools.
As schools across the City geared up to open their doors for the first day of class on Thurs., Sept. 8th, hundreds of children from community school district 6 in Northern Manhattan received free school supplies on their first day of school.

CB12 Land Use Committee announces Resolutions for Quadriad Development
Land Use Committee began the 2011-12 fiscal year on Wed., Sept. 7th with a focused agenda. At the start of the meeting, committee chair Wayne Benjamin reviewed projects submitted to the Manhattan Borough President’s office before the summer that would be assigned to the Community Planning Intern this year. Rezoning and Development gained the most votes from committee members and community residents present.

For the third time in less than a month, Deputy Inspector Barry Buzzetti of the 34th Precinct addressed an incident that raised questions about the actions of local police enforcement – in this case, the shooting death of an Inwood resident by a police officer.
