Inwood residents have seen a lot on Dyckman Street.

Camels are, by all accounts, a first.

This past Sun., Jan. 6^th saw the 12^th day of Christmas, on which the visit of The Three Kings to see the infant Jesus is marked, made manifest on Dyckman Street with the first annual Three Kings Day Parade.

Walking from the Harlem River to the Hudson River, ending at La Marina, was a small procession of residents, kings and, yes, sheep and camels.

Camellos es, sin lugar a dudas, la primera vez.

Este pasado domingo 6 de enero fue el día 12 de la Navidad, en la que se marca la visita de los Reyes Magos al niño Jesús, y esta se celebró en la Calle Dyckman con el primer desfile anual de los Tres Reyes Magos. Caminando desde el río Harlem hasta el río Hudson, terminando en La Marina, era una pequeña procesión de los residentes, los reyes y, sí ovejas y camellos.

Il Posto alardea de pizzas frescas de un
horno de ladrillo. 

Para algunos neoyorquinos, la pizza es tan esencial como el oxígeno.

Las calles están repletas de restaurantes y tiendas que ofrecen las cosas de la vida. Día a día, estos cumplen con su deber, satisfaciendo el hambre en su mayoría con una comida para llevar.

La residente de Washington Heights, Silvia Giamarino, desea añadir un nuevo pedazo a la mezcla. En su recién inaugurada pizzeria, Il Posto (que se traduce al italiano a “El Lugar”), localizada en Dyckman entre Broadway y la Avenida Seaman, Giamarino está buscando introducir a los residentes del Alto Manhattan a un tipo de pizza diferente, una en la que aquellos buscando el pedazo perfecto se puedan sentar y comerse un delicioso pedazo que es servido fresco de la ardiente boca de un horno de ladrillo.

We started the year off right with the awesome news that Word Up Books reached its

indiegogo pledge goal of 60K on January 1^st. What that means is that Word Up Books will be returning to a storefront near you soon. Word Up Books has meant so much to this neighborhood and the fact that they can raise such a significant amount of money is a testament to that love.

The Sugar Hill Children’s Museum of Art and Storytelling, due to open in 2014, has a new director.

Suzy Delvalle, former director of external affairs and development for El Museo del Barrio, will draw upon her recognized expertise in community outreach, strategic partnerships, fundraising and program development to the new cultural institution in northern Manhattan.

As director, she will be responsible for constituency and partnership development and for fostering collaborative ventures.

Delvalle has a successful history of applying private sector and external affairs skills to museum and arts management. At El Museo, she developed a reputation for her passionate commitment to arts education and community vibrancy.
