Neighborhood Blogwatch

by Carla Zanoni

Magical Life, My Search for God in the Details

“Tips to elevate your soul and tales about life from a New Yorker living in Los Angeles…because i adore the uncommon and the sublime, the majestic and the human, the good, the bad and the ugly, the under appreciated and the overlooked, the messed up, the decadent, the glamorous, crumbling monuments, disregarded history, the fantastically beautiful, the holy and the godly. I'm here to let you in on the secrets, and tell you stories. Enjoy my friends.”

Holly Ramos was born and raised in New York before moving to Los Angeles. She writes that her childhood here was wonderful, but as a teen struggled with the distance from her friends and slowly moved from the area. Read about her memories about the old ‘hood and get lost in the rest of her gorgeous writing. She sees Inwood through a light that many don’t see shine here very often.

Althouse

After Jim Carroll’s recent death, different sites and publications have written tomes to his life, his loves and his home. Inwood being his first and final home and ultimate resting place, this neighborhood has received some more attention than usual. Here the readers and author of Althouse seem to have some sort of connection to previous generations of Inwood life and Mr. Carroll’s past. They take this time to talk through some of the connections to the neighborhood and the Irish writers who had ties to the area and culture.

Inwood – Past and Present

A network of residents – Past and Present

Not so much a blog, but more a gathering place for people who live or have lived in Inwood. A social network-type site, participants who are approved to join the group can view old photos, share stories and bond with Inwoodites of all ages.
