On June 2 at 7:30 p.m. at Inwood Hill Park, seasoned theater lovers and thespian newcomers alike will be treated to the first production of this season’s Inwood Shakespeare Festival, produced by the Moose Hall Theatre Company.

Before March, the Inwood Boxing Academy looked like somewhere Rocky Balboa might have trained. Now, it looks ready for Apollo Creed.

You can’t run a pizza joint in Washington Heights without a little rice and beans. At least that’s the philosophy at Giovanni’s Restaurant, the former Italian Café on the corner of W. 177th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue.

I explained to a friend last night that he wasn’t “exactly” my uncle – no, he had married into this illustrious family; he had not been born a brother to either of my parents. I said this as a way of making things clear, of distinguishing between the nearly 25 aunts and uncles I do have by way of lineage, blood and birth, as opposed to the nearly as many wonderful women and men who have chosen to marry them, bear and raise my cousins and more, and do the work of living.
