Are newspapers leaking the secrets of Northern Manhattan?

If you live here, you know you’ve got it good. There’s an abundance of parkland, over 500 acres in fact. Rents and apartment prices are cheaper, per square foot, than anywhere else in Manhattan. Crime is low. The city is at our doorsteps, just about a half hour jaunt on the A-train.

Parents protest DOE. plan to add high school to P.S. 173

On bitter cold afternoon, parents and elected officials gathered outside P.S. 173 on Ft. Washington Avenue near W. 173rd Street to protest a Department of Education (DOE) plan to add as many as 300 students to this kindergarten through fifth grade school.

On a crisp, cold Saturday morning, Urban Park Ranger Robert Mastrianni leads a group of hopeful bald eagle watchers on a tour through Inwood Hill Park. The eagles aren’t night owls – they are up early looking for breakfast, and to see one, you have to be up early too.

Forget driving on Cabrini Boulevard for at least a week. Consolidated Edison has dug a trench in the stretch between W. 187th Street and W. 190th to replace power lines that burned out on Feb. 4, causing a temporary blackout on the street. Street
