Dining Guide, listings win awards
That catchy little orange book around the neighborhood called the Dining Guide? It’s now the award-winning Dining Guide. The Manhattan Times won first place for Special Section in the 2008 Better Newspaper Contest held by the New York Press Association, a trade group that represents New York State's community newspapers. The judges, from newspaper groups in New England and Pennsylvania, lauded the publication, calling it "Eye catching, easy to read, bilingual, good format [and] convenient size." They went on to say: "It's a 'keeper' readers would refer to throughout the year!" The guide was published in partnership with Audubon Partnership for Economic Development and hit the streets on Sept. 15 during the Taste of Inwood and Washington Heights. The MT also picked up a third-place prize for it dining listings, which appear every week in the paper. Judges said the pages were: "A nice way to feature the variety of dining options in this market. Nice use of color and graphics." The awards were presented on April 4 during the NYPA's spring conference in Saratoga Springs, NY.
