Shhhh!
Shhhh! Moises Perez, Executive Director of Alianza Dominicana, and State Senator Eric Schneiderman distributed reusable canvas bags and compact fluorescent light bulbs to Washington Heights residents on April 24. The event, “Green Giveaways for a Green Heights,” was sponsored by the Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation (NMIC), Alianza Dominicana and Schneiderman. Shhhh! Former World Cup DH champion Jurgen Beneke defended his title as the all-mountain king of New York City with his repeat win at the second-annual NYCMTB Highbridge Park Hustle + Flow All-Mountain race on April 26. The Ghostship Clothing team from Connecticut repeated their domination of the team category, breaking their own course record by a whopping 19 seconds. Visit http://www.nycmtb.com for more information about New York City mountain bike trails, races and events. Shhhh! Republican David Casavis, a candidate for Manhattan borough president, spent April 21, when a special election was held for a new Bronx borough president, in Marble Hill handing out fliers for his election this fall. Quixotically, Casavis is running on a platform to abolish all borough presidents.
