Jason Kendall, northern Manhattan’s resident astronomer, for his “Inwood Space Camp,” is looking for a few good space cadets to join him this month in a free adventure for astronauts between the ages of 10 and 18 at the New York Public Library’s Inwood Branch.
Space wayfarers should make their way to the Inwood library to launch themselves into what Kendall calls “a universe of excitement,” where they will be called upon to make planes that soar on the breeze, use their own solar telescope and should weather permit, participants can join the Amateur Astronomers Association for stargazing at Inwood Hill Park at 8pm. There will also be a special performance by Donna Stearns and the Big Bangers.
For more information, please call the Inwood Library at 212.942.2445 or visit http://www.moonbeam.net/InwoodAstronomy/events/20110820.shtml or http://www.nypl.org/locations/tid/38/node/128387?lref=38%2Fcalendar
All New York Public Library Programs are offered free of charge.
