The Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance (NoMAA) is calling on artists and arts organizations to assist the NoMAA technical Assistance Institute 2011, a one-day conference which will examine common issues in the arts, share fundamental steps to creating and sustaining a career as an artist and to develop a successful arts organization.
The conference will be held on Sat., Oct. 22nd from 9 am to 7 pm at The Malcolm X & Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center located on 3940 Broadway between West 165th and 166th Streets.
The focus of this year’s conference will be on marketing and audience development strategies so that artists can effectively gather support for their work by developing marketing concepts, and establishing a clear message for their projects.
The program will begin at 9 am with registration and a continental breakfast.
The marketing strategies master class will be presented by David Kitto, vice president for marketing and sales at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC.
At 1 p.m. the “Engaging our Community: Voices from the Field” workshop will begin, offering guests to learn from fellow artist and arts professionals about their marketing tactics locally and beyond.
The afternoon workshops will include topics in public relations and marketing for artists, as well as communications and media relations for organizations.
There will be a closing plenary, networking reception, and open mic at the end of the day.
There is a $20 suggested donation, and the Technical Assistance Institute is free for NoMAA members.

La Alianza de Artes del Norte de Manhattan (NoMAA, por sus siglas en inglés) hace un llamado a artistas y organizaciones de arte para asistir al Instituto de Asistencia Técnica del 2011, una conferencia de un día la cual examina los asuntos comunes en las artes, comparte pasos fundamentales para crear y sostener una carrera como artista, y desarrollar una organización de arte exitosa.
La conferencia será llevada a cabo el sábado, 22 de octubre de 9 a.m. a 7 p.m. en el Monumento y Centro Educativo ‘The Malcolm X & Dr. Betty Shabazz’ localizado en el 3940 de Broadway entre las Calles 165 y 166.
El enfoque de la conferencia de este año será en mercadeo y desarrollo de estrategias para que los artistas puedan conseguir apoyo para su trabajo desarrollando conceptos de mercadeo y estableciendo un claro mensaje de sus proyectos.
El programa comenzará a las 9 a.m. con la inscripción y un desayuno continental.
La clase de estrategias de mercadeo será presentada por David Kitto, vicepresidente de mercadeo y ventas del Centro de Bellas Artes John F. Kennedy en Washington, DC.
