To the Editor:

The Manhattan Times June 8 article “Fifty years after his death, does Trujillo still matter?” by John Gutierrez is well-researched, relevant. and timely.

As a scholar of the Trujillo Era, I offer one correction. When Trujillo left his office on the evening of May 30, he went not to “the home of one of his mistresses” but rather to the home of his daughter Angelita. Trujillo was assassinated after he left there and was being driven to his ranch, Estancia Fundacion, in San Cristobal.
