The construction of the new Campbell Sports Center and the Boathouse Marsh continues in Inwood with major construction continuing on the corner of West 218th Street and Broadway. In the next two weeks, there will be changes to both traffic and pedestrian patterns to prepare fort he installation of a crane.
For the following two weeks, construction will include pouring of concrete walls, and pits and trenches. In addition, DOT-approved traffic controls will be set up along West 218th Street.
Following stipulations of the DOT, traffic control devices will include barricades around the perimeter of the site. The traffic changes became effective Oct. 11th and will last up to five months. During that time, construction work will occupy the two westbound lanes on West 218th Street from Broadway to approximately Park Terrace East on both the parking and driving lanes.
To accommodate traffic, the two eastbound lanes on West 218th Street from Broadway to Park Terrace East will be split to redirect on the eastbound driving lane and one westbound driving lane.
Parking Changes
No parking on north or south sides of West 218th Street from Broadway to Park Terrace East until March of 2012. Parking will not be allowed on the west side of Broadway between West 218th Street to West 219th Street until March of 2012.
Pedestrian Changes
There will be no pedestrian access on the north side of West 218th Street between Broadway and Park Terrace West until March 2012. Pedestrian access will be maintained on the south side of West 218thStreet.
Crane Installation
There will be a crane pad installation starting on Mon., Oct. 17the on West 218th Street and Broadway. It will involve delivery trucks and intermittent closures of West 218th Street during that week as well as the closure of the sidewalk on the north side of West 218th Street along the site. It is expected that the crane pad and crane will be in place for up to five months.
Work Hours
The regular work hours are from 7 am to 6 pm, but certain equipment may require delivery after hours depending on oversize load requirements.

La construcción del nuevo Centro Deportivo Campbell y el Cobertizo de Botes continúa en Inwood en la esquina del oeste de la Calle 218 y Broadway. En las próximas dos semanas, habrá cambios para el tráfico y para los peatones para preparar la instalación de la grúa.
Para las dos semanas siguientes, la construcción incluirá verter paredes de concreto, hoyos y zanjas. Además, los controles de tráfico aprobados por el DOT serán puesto a lo largo del oeste de la Calle 218.
Siguiendo estipulaciones del DOT, aparatos de control de tráfico incluirán barricadas alrededor del perímetro del lugar. Los cambios en el tráfico serán efectivos el 11 de octubre y tendrán una duración de hasta cinco meses. Durante ese tiempo, el trabajo de construcción ocupará los dos carriles hacia el oeste en la Calle 218 desde Broadway hasta aproximadamente Park Terrace East tanto en los estacionamientos como en los carriles para guiar.
Para acomodar el tráfico, los dos carriles en dirección este por el oeste de la Calle 218 desde Broadway hasta Park Terrace East serán divididos para redirigir el tráfico – un carril hacia el este y uno para el oeste.
Cambios en el estacionamiento
No habrá estacionamiento en los lados norte o sur del oeste de la Calle 218 desde Broadway hasta Park Terrace East hasta marzo del 2012. No se permitirá el estacionamiento en el lado oeste de Broadway entre las Calles 218 y 219 hasta marzo del 2012.
Cambios Peatonales
No habrá acceso peatonal en el lado norte del oeste de la Calle 218 entre Broadway y Park Terrace West hasta marzo del 2012. El acceso peatonal será mantenido en el lado sur del oeste de la Calle 218.
Instalación de la Grúa
Habrá una instalación de grúa comenzando el lunes, 17 de octubre en el oeste de la Calle 218 y Broadway. Envolverá camiones de entregas y cierres intermitentes del oeste de la Calle 218 durante esa semana como también el cierre de la acera en el lado norte de la Calle 218 junto al lugar. Se espera que la grúa permanezca en el lugar hasta cinco meses.
Horas de trabajo
Las horas regulares de trabajo son de 7 a.m. a 6 p.m., pero ciertos equipos podrían requerir entregas luego de estas horas dependiendo del tamaño de la carga.
