Christopher Auger-Dominguez’s image of a young superhero is one of 14 photographs included in a group exhibit titled “If I didn’t have to be me, what would I be?" at the Manhattan Times. The closing reception is Wed., Aug. 3.
A frustrated writer, a young superhero, a playful child: these are some of the things that local photographers would choose to be if they were something else. The photographs are part of a group exhibit that explores the theme “If I didn’t have to be me, what would I be?" that will have its closing reception on Wed., Aug. 3 from 6-8 p.m.
The exhibit has been hanging at the office of the Manhattan Times since May and features 14 photographers, including: Christopher Auger-Dominguez, Rudy Camacho, Dawn Chase, Carrie Crow, DJ Boy, Mike Fitelson, Briana E.Heard, Caren Litherland, Rough Acres/RL McKee, Robert Polanco, Anna Purves, Emily Weissman , leslie j. yerman, and Wayne Young.
The event will be co-sponsored by State Farm Agent Julio Tejada who will distribute literature about insurance plans that are tailored to photographers and artists. In recent months Tejada has launched a campaign to help support local artists and children’s organizations, co-sponsoring the closing reception of the Uptown Arts Stroll and offering donations to the top graduates at P.S. 210.
“I grew up in the community, so I am giving back to the community,” Tejada said.
The closing reception is open to the public. The Manhattan Times is at 5030 Broadway, Suite 801 at W. 214th St.
