On Aug. 4 Vantage Residential and “Courts of Dreams” announced the restoration of basketball courts at Raoul Wallenberg Playground in Washington Heights.
To mark the occasion, Vantage and “Courts of Dreams” hosted a neighborhood basketball clinic led by coaches from the New York Knicks Summer Basketball Camp and Knicks legend John Starks for kids from the local community.
Through their partnership with the non-profit group “Courts of Dreams,” which is dedicated to restoring courts around the city, and in cooperation with the New York City Parks Department, Vantage helped restore the basketball courts by donating $50,000 towards the project. The city of New York matched this amount.
The basketball clinic was held on Wed., Aug. 4 from 11am – 1pm at the newly renovated courts located at W. 189th Street and Amsterdam Avenue. Over 125 kids aged 6 to 18, and guests enjoyed food catered by Coogan’s Restaurant and music by local DJ “The Groove Truck.”
“These renovations will help improve the community for Vantage residents and provide neighborhood children and their families with a safe environment to enjoy recreational activities,” said Neil Rubler, CEO, Vantage Residential.
"We greatly appreciate our partnership with Vantage and the leadership of Neil Rubler who has so generously dedicated his time and resources to improving the quality of life for children throughout the Washington Heights community,” said Natasha Cornstein, Chairman, “Courts Of Dreams” Foundation.
"Providing the kind of resources to encourage physical activity and exercise are as important to the successful development of our next generation as the books they read in their classrooms," said Congressman Charlie Rangel. "I want to thank John Starks and all the organizers here for helping to give our kids the chance to have a good time and play basketball on new courts that they can be proud of right in their backyards.”
