A forum on immigration issues – the Secure Communities policy, rising anti-immigrant sentiment around the nation, recent proposals for improving the immigration process – will be the focus of the next general meeting of the Barack Obama Democratic Club of Upper Manhattan on Wed., Nov. 17 at 6:30 p.m.
Invited panelists include Angela Fernandez, executive director of Northern Manhattan Coalition for Immigrant Rights; Allan Wernick, professor at Baruch College and immigration columnist for the Daily News; Dr. Guillermo Linares, formerly the city’s commissioner of immigrant affairs and Assembly Member-elect, 72nd A.D.
The event is free and will be held at the Russ Berrie Medical Building, 1150 St. Nicholas Ave. at W. 168th St.
There will also be a discussion about the latest work of the Obama Dems, the state of democracy after the results of the general election and how attendees can get involved in local issues. Questions and to RSVP:
