New York Restoration Project’s annual Harlem River Festival takes place this Sun., Sep. 12 from noon to 5 p.m. at Swindler Cove Park, at the far east end of Dyckman Street where it intersects with Harlem River Drive.
Festival highlights include fishing and seining, boating in the harbor, live animals, cookie decorating, a surf simulator ride and educational programming. The cove will be turned into an interactive classroom, educating attendees of all ages about the creatures below the water’s surface and the ways to get an up-close look at their habitat. Additionally, attendees will enjoy festival music throughout the day and traditional barbeque fare will be available for a picnic lunch.
The event is free.
