Police have arrested a St. Nicholas Avenue teen they believe stabbed a Bronx man to death near the corner of W. 181st Street and St. Nicholas Avenue in the early hours of Sun., June 20.
Police believe Andy Henriquez, 16, murdered Mohamed Jalloh, 18, from Nelson Avenue in the Bronx. Jalloh was stabbed numerous times at 1:26 a.m. near 564 W. 181st St. and was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Henriquez has been charged with murder in the second degree and gang assault.
Jalloh is the fourth homicide this year for Northern Manhattan.
On Jan. 24 Ariel Almanzar, 23, was stabbed near Vibe Lounge on Audubon Avenue between W. 175th and W. 176th Streets. In March an ex-con, Miguel Ramirez, 59, slit the throat of a woman he’d been arguing with in his apartment and in May Elias Peguero, 18, was shot to death inside a bodega on 10th Avenue in Inwood.
Last year there were three homicides in Northern Manhattan, two in the 33rd Police Precinct and one in the 34th Precinct. In 2001 there were 16 homicides reported in Northern Manhattan, and in 1990 there were 103.
